Frequently Asked Questions
How long have you been lettering?
I have always enjoyed "lettering" since middle school. I loved practicing different lettering styles that I'd see others use. It wasn't until around 2015 that I started sharing my work online.
Can I letter even if I have messy writing?
Absolutely! Lettering is more of an artform than it is penmanship. With lettering, you will normally create individual strokes to create letters or draw shapes to build letters.
What pens to do you recommend beginners to start with?
I recommend starting with small tip brush pens like; Pentel Brush Tip Sign Pens, Tombow Fudenosuke Hard Tip Brush Pens, and Zebra Fine Tip Brush Pens.* These can be found on Amazon, or in most local stores that have craft supplies and/or office supplies.
*Items have links to Amazon using an affiliate link where I earn a small commission if you purchase your items there at no extra cost to you.
Do you have anything that I can use to get started right away?
If you'd like to get started right now, I have some lettering worksheets available that can help you on your way. My Stellar Lettering Guide is a great start with practice strokes and upper and lower case letters. My Magical Flourishes Lettering Guide is great to use if you wanted to start adding flourishes to your lettering once you feel comfortable. It includes flourished upper and lower case letters, along with additional flourishes you can add. And I also have my Chrystal Elizabeth's Handwriting Guide that has different styles of penmanship that I use that were requested by others that enjoyed those styles.
